Talented illustrator Katie Chappell who is studying illustration at Sunderland University asked me if I would like to do a little feature on her final year piece. It is an illustrated guide of craft fairs based in Newcastle and other areas in the North East this year. I was delighted when she asked me and when I received it in the post the other day I was so impressed with the way she had made it from the illustrations to the type, font and layout.
Come on if you see a guide with an illustration like that on the front you would grab it quickly.
Lovely illustration of Tynemouth Station. This station hosts a market every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays and sells antiques, crafts, food, and much more.
Craft Market Tips; one of my favourites Katie wrote is 'Leave room for a cupcake or a brownie. Nom'.
This is one place I really need to go to myself, Heaton Perk cafe.
I love Vintage fairs and they seem very reasonable to get into too.
Throughout the guide I like how clear the font is and its very easy read through.
It really is a wonderful little guide and I think anyone who wants leaflets, guides, etc made they need to contact Katie because this is the prettiest and most interesting guide I have had the pleasure to read through. It has that feeling of a zine and is a work of art in itself. I wish Katie all the best for her final year at university.

Katie did a wonderful job, it all looks so sweet and well put together. Her illustrations are what I enjoy, lovely and colourful.
ReplyDeleteDef need to go back to Newcastle again!x
ReplyDeleteI want one of these guides, & I don't even live in the UK. America is way too big for such a creature here-it would be a coffee-table book sized thing, at the end! No good for keeping in car boots for lucky Saturday outings. Anyway, this is really lovely!
