My family and I went to Barter Books yesterday. I had more books to trade in and I couldn't believe it when the lady said I just earned £27 of store credit and I was like WOW, but then she said including your other credit that is £37 altogether to spend. I was totally over the moon and went crazy gathering lots of books and maps to look through. I got two maps and three books worth £24 and it cost me nothing.....WIN!!!
One of the maps is like a book made by W.H.Smith and Son's showing the Environs of London, dated 1870. The other map is of the Scottish isles of Zetland, dated 1947.
These are the books I got and aren't the covers just so beautifully detailed. Basically if I like the cover I will grab it and keep it all to myself.
'Sword at Sunset' is a modern interpretation of King Arthur, presenting a solitary figure greater than the legend told. I am really looking forward to reading this one, but I would love to read 'The Mists of Avalon' before this. Its a first edition dated 1963.
'The Three Midshipmen' is about three young gentlemen who are educated in a boarding school and become friends and stick by each other after being bullied. They then join the Navy going onto different posts and meet up from time to time under very difficult circumstances. This book is dated 1921. Isn't the cover just AMAZING!!!
'The Biography of a Silver Fox', the title pretty much explains what the book is about, to show the life of a fox. Dated 1909. It has lovely illustrated pages and colour plates throughout.
